HALIFAX TO REBID CONTRACT OPTION YEARS

HALIFAX TO REBID CONTRACT OPTION YEARS
ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Halifax Corporation

(AMEX: HX) has been informed the U.S. Marine Corps is reopening the Maritime Prepositioning Ship (MPS) Program solicitation to afford all the original offerors an opportunity to submit revised proposals, participate in discussions and submit best and final offers for the performance periods (including options) of Oct. 1, 1992, through Sept. 30, 1997. Halifax was awarded this contract on Oct. 1, 1991, with a base year and four option years to provide maintenance and logistics services for the Marine equipment and supplies aboard 13 ships and in the port area at Blount Island, Jacksonville, Fla. This revision does not effect the base year of that contract. The government decision to rebid and extend the option years is the result of a bid protest and General Accounting Office decision, unrelated to the high quality of services now being provided by Halifax or any irregularities in its proposal.
As the incumbent contractor performing in a more than satisfactory manner, Halifax will continue work under the original contract at least through Feb. 10, 1993, if a new contractor is phased in; however, the company feels confident that its proposal for this continued effort will once again meet the competitive challenge.
Halifax is an electronics services and facilities support company, serving the government and industry.
