 HAL LIEBERMAN PROMOTED TO EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT
 OF PRODUCTION FOR UNIVERSAL PICTURES
 UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Hal Lieberman has been promoted to executive vice president of production for Universal Pictures, effective immediately, it was announced today by Casey Silver, president of production.
 Lieberman most recently was senior vice president of production, having joined Universal in 1987 as a director of production. He became vice president of production in 1989 and was promoted to senior vice president in 1990.
 While at Universal, Lieberman has developed and overseen production on such films as the current box-office hit "Fried Green Tomatoes," "Problem Child," and the upcoming "Death Becomes Her" with Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn and Bruce Willis and "Mr. Baseball" starring Tom Selleck. He also serves as the supervising Universal executive on the upcoming Imagine productions "Housesitter," "Concierge" and "Cop and a Half."
 "Hal has all the credentials one looks for in a top production executive including a strong creative background and the ability to work closely with filmmakers in producing quality films for sensible budgets," said Silver. "With this promotion, he will be in a position to make an even greater contribution to the success of Universal's feature development team."
 Prior to joining Universal, Lieberman was director of development for Blum and Ganz, an independent production company based at Disney. He began his career in the entertainment industry as a screenwriter for feature films and television movies of the week.
