HADRON'S ACUMENICS SUBSIDIARY NAMES DAVID SMITH PRESIDENT

 FAIRFAX, Va., Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Hadron, Inc.'s (NASDAQ: HDRNC) Virginia-based subsidiary, Acumenics Research & Technology, Inc., today announced the appointment of David M. Smith to the position of president. Smith will also serve as a corporate vice president of Hadron.
 "Acumenics -- and Hadron -- are most fortunate to have David Smith joining their top management teams," said C.W. Gilluly, chairman of the executive committee of the board of directors of Hadron, who led the executive search committee that selected Smith. "David Smith is an extremely talented manager, experienced in all aspects of technology, training and financial management," added Gilluly.
 Smith, 45, joined the senior management team of The First National Bank of Maryland in 1980 and, since 1985, directed the activities of the bank's Washington affiliate. He has been responsible for the implementation and marketing of large-scale projects for the federal government and for several federal agencies, and has expertise in many technologies including imaging and electronic bank transfer hardware enhancements.
 Prior to The First National Bank of Maryland, Smith held senior management positions at the Bank Administration Institute, the Bank of Oklahoma and the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.
 Smith holds a B.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo and is a member of The Greater Washington Board of Trade, The Greater Washington Research Center and the Washington Economic Club. He is a trustee of the Washington Bach Consort and is active with the Washington National Cathedral Development Committee, where he was chairman of the Corporate Campaign Committee from 1989-1990. He resides in Columbia, Md., with his wife.
