 H.E. GARDNER ELECTED VICE PRESIDENT OF EQUITABLE RESOURCES
 PITTSBURGH, June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Equitable Resources, Inc. (NYSE: EQT) has announced the election of Harry E. Gardner Jr. to the post of vice president-energy resources effective June 1, 1992.
 Gardner will continue to serve as president of Equitable Resources Energy Company, which oversees the operations of Equitable's Energy Resource segment. The segment is a major producer of natural gas and oil in the Appalachian Basin and has extensive gas and oil interests and properties in the Rocky Mountain region, the offshore Gulf of Mexico, and Colombia, South America.
 Gardner began his career with Equitable in 1970. After serving in a number of supervisory positions, he was named operations manager of an Equitable production subsidiary in 1982, and two years later was appointed vice president and general manager of Equitable Resources Exploration (EREX), a newly organized production and exploration division headquartered in Kingsport, Tenn. He became president of EREX in 1987.
 Gardner moved to Equitable Resources Energy Company in 1989 as a vice president, was promoted to executive vice president in 1990, and named president in January 1991.
 Gardner received a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Waynesburg College, Waynesburg, Pa., and studied petroleum engineering at West Virginia University. He is an elder in the Peters Creek United Presbyterian Church, president of the Virginia Oil and Gas Association, director of the Kentucky Oil and Gas Association, and a trustee of Tusculum College, Greeneville, Tenn.
