H.B. Fuller Acquires Adhesives Unit

H.B. Fuller, St. Paul, MN, has acquired the hot melt adhesives production equipment of Industrias Mammi, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Procter & Gamble de Venezuela, C.A. Terms of the sale were not announced by either party.

Industrias Mammi, the largest producer of disposable diapers in Venezuela, operates a diaper manufacturing plant in Caracas, where the hot melt equipment was located. Fuller will relocate the equipment to its own facility in Caracas. The sales agreement apparently calls for Fuller to continue to supply hot melt adhesives to Industrias Mammi, as well as to other Venezuelan industrial customers.

The acquisition gives Fuller its first manufacturing venture in Venezuela; it had previously sold adhesives into the country from other Latin American manufacturing sites. H.B. Fuller Latin America is located in Costa Rica and has sales and manufacturing operations throughout Central and South America and the Caribbean.
