 H. ONNO RUDING APPOINTED VICE CHAIRMAN OF CITICORP
 NEW YORK, Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- John S. Reed, chairman of Citicorp


(NYSE: CCI), announced today the appointment of H. Onno Ruding as Vice Chairman with responsibility for corporate finance activities worldwide, effective March 1.
 "I am pleased that Onno Ruding is joining our senior management team, further strengthening our European and, indeed, worldwide corporate banking business," Reed said.
 Ruding stated: "This is an opportune time for me to join Citicorp because, as a member of the Board of Directors since July 1990, I know the challenges facing Citicorp and I believe we see evidence that John Reed's plan to address those challenges is on the road to succeeding. I look forward to participating in the continued development of Citicorp's unmatched international presence and breadth of relationships in corporate banking."
 Ruding, 52, is a banker, economist and international finance leader who was the Netherlands Finance Minister from 1982 to 1989. As finance minister, he was at times also Chairman of the International Monetary Fund's Interim Committee, the Group of Ten (industrialized countries), the Inter-American Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the European Investment Bank. Since 1990 Ruding has been chairman of the Netherlands Christian Federation of Employers (NCW). He was elected a director of Citicorp in 1990.
 Earlier in Ruding's career, he had been a member of the board of managing directors of the Amsterdam-Rotterdam (AMRO) Bank from 1981 to 1982, an executive director of the IMF from 1977 to 1980, joint general manager of the AMRO Bank from 1971 to 1976, and head of the international monetary affairs division of the Netherlands Ministry of Finance from 1965 to 1970.
 He is also a Board member or advisor of Unilever N.V. and Unilever plc, Philips Electronics, Nationale-Nederlanden insurance, Ernst & Young (Europe), and the ROBECO investment group.
 Born on Aug. 15, 1939 in Breda, Netherlands, Ruding was educated at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, receiving an MBA in economics in 1963 and a Ph.D. in economics, cum laude, in 1969. He is married and has two children.
