H. Muehlstein & Co. will relocate its Rubber Division, Americas general office from Akron, OH, to Muehlstein corporate headquarters in Norwalk, CT. The office is responsible for Rubber Division activities in the United States, Canada and Latin America. The move should be completed in September. Other sales offices are located in Atlanta, GA; Auburn, MA; Montvale, NJ; and Mexico City, Mexico.

The first private sector-sponsored advanced materials instrument, a high-resolution neutron spectrometer formally known as a "30-meter small-angle neutron scattering spectrometer," or SANS, has been inaugurated at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Designed and built in a joint venture between NIST, Exxon Research & Engineering and the University of Minnesota's Center for Interfacial Engineering, the $1.5 million spectrometer will operate from NIST's Cold Neutron Research facility in Gaithersburg, MD. The spectrometer can observe atomic and molecular structures in bulk materials over an exceptionally broad range of sizes.

Norton Performance Plastics' operation in Raamsdonksveer, The Netherlands, has achieved a quality rating of ISO 9001.

The Plastic Division of Novacor moved production/R&D and marketing headquarters for Sarlink thermoplastic elastomers from Sarnia, Ontario, to its new U.S. base in Leominster, MA. A multi-million dollar investment has been completed that added a fully automated twin screw extrusion line with both upstream and downstream equipment as well as extensive modifications in the testing and R&D areas.
