Gym approval from Duncan.

OLYMPIAN Duncan Goodhew (pictured) has given the thumbs up to improvements at Vale of Glamorgan leisure centres.

The swimmer visited the Barry and Penarth leisure centres in his role as chairman and non-executive director of Parkwood Leisure, the company which operates the council's leisure centres in the Vale.

He said the new gyms in Barry and Penarth were examples of how organisations and councils could work together to provide affordable leisure facilities.

Councillor Gwyn John, the Vale council's cabinet member for leisure, said: "The partnership arrangements that the council have put in place with Parkwood Leisure have enabled much needed investment in our leisure centres."
