Gus Ocamposilva, a Colombian contemporary artist, studied murals at the Massana School of Barcelona and painting procedures at Barcelona University in Spain. Ocamposilva's paintings and sculptures are interpretations of the world he was raised in--a world filled with great diversity of colors, where the most difficult times served as inspiration to fortify the spirit.
His experience as a student in Europe and now as a resident of the United States provide additional inspiration for his dynamic works. Highly influenced by Latin American culture, Ocamposilva creates a unique style using bright colors and exquisite forms. The sculptor/painter hopes to show his passion for life through his works. He cannot imagine a world without colors, magic, poetry and the landscape of the human body. Ocamposilva's art has been placed in several different public art projects in Atlanta, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Tampa and Kissimmee, Fla.
"I pretend to show in all my paintings and sculptures the sensibility of the human spirit by exploring through abstraction the shapes of the human body, the fusion of the colors, the sensuality, the exuberance for life and the tonal charm with powerful and expressive colors and forms. Through the years, I have found the technique is a way to tell how I perceived the world and my passion for life."
