Guns for teachers would be insane; Views of Wales 27/02/18.

TRUMP'S imperceptive grasp of reality and general insensitivity are axiomatic but his latest suggestion that teachers carry guns is bizarre. As an ex maths teacher, the thought of myself undertaking gun training at, say, an army institution or police academy is insane and would be a ridiculous addition to my job description.

Like many teachers, I was assaulted on several occasions in class, verbally abused on numerous occasions and generally bullied and so asking teachers to carry arms in class carries an inherent risk. Tiredness, stress, justified irritation at appalling child conduct could all be factors that could result in tragedy. Imagine if an inspector was particularly arrogant and smug: a gun incident could be conducive to civil war in the public sector. Now, there's a thought.
