Gunners ace out of clash with Italians.

ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN is the latest player to withdraw from Roy Hodgson's England squad with an ankle injury yesterday ruling the Arsenal midfielder out of tomorrow's clash with Italy.

Joe Hart and Daniel Sturridge had earlier pulled out and Hodgson has called up Joleon Lescott to boost numbers which means either John Ruddy or Jack Butland will make their England debut in Berne.

Italy, like England, have named an experimental squad and the Euro 2012 runners-up must do without Mario Balotelli, who is sidelined with conjunctivitis.

Udinese's Diego Fabbrini has come in as a replacement for the Manchester City forward.

There's been the usual raft of changes that occur on these international matches with David Goodwillie called up for Scotland's meeting with Australia after James Forrest, Jamie Mackie and Phil Bardsley withdrew from Craig Levein's squad. Kevin Doyle and Marc Wilson are out of Ireland's plans for their clash against Serbia with Damien Delaney called up.

John Toshack was yesterday sacked as manager of Macedonia, who face Lithuania tomorrow. Italy squad - goalkeepers: Consigli, Perin, Sirigu; defenders: Abate, Acerb, Astori, Balzaretti, De Sciglio, Gastaldello, Ogbonna, Peluso; midfielders: Aquilani, De Rossi, Diamanti, Nocerino, Poli, Schelotto, Verratti; forwards: Destro, El Shaarawy, Fabbrini, Gabbiadini.
