Gunman kills two.

A gunman opened fire in the Swiss bank where he worked, killing two people before turning the gun on himself.

The 56-year-old financial adviser, entered the offices of the Zuercher Kantonalbank in Zurich and fired several times at the chief of financial planning and the bank's head of financial advice, Zurich city police spokesman Marco Cortesi said.

The man then shot and killed himself.

The two victims, aged 45 and 41, were rushed to hospital with serious injuries and died yesterday afternoon, the bank said.

Flight alert

THE Russian air force scrambled a fighter jet to intercept a Manchester bound airliner that had illegally entered its air space.

The incident involved a Pakistani Airlines B-763 airliner on a flight from Lahore to Manchester.

A special commission has been set up to investigate.

Bus horror

A BUS plunged into a mountain gorge in northern India yesterday after it suffered a mechanical fault and went out of control, killing 28 people.

At least 17 others were injured in the accident in Chitai, 150 miles north-east of New Delhi.

Winnie's win

WINNIE Madikizela-Mandela, former wife of Nelson Mandela, won an appeal against a four-year jail term for alleged theft and fraud.

The High Court in Pretoria handed her a five-year suspended sentence and upheld all 43 charges of fraud from her conviction in 2003 but overturned 25 counts of theft.
