PEP Guardiola described City's win over Tottenham as 'massive' as they moved another step closer to retaining the Premier League title.
City ran out 1-0 winners over Spurs, thanks to an early Phil Foden goal, in a cagey encounter at the Etihad yesterday and Guardiola spoke of the importance of the win as they keep the pressure on Liverpool in the title race.
"We didn't make the best performance but what we did today was massive," Guardiola said after the victory which sent City back to the top of the table ahead of Liverpool's game against Cardiff today.
"Of course not our best performance compared to the other two, but today they played with nothing to lose and we played to lose the Premier League," Guardiola added. "The last two days have been tough after Wednesday but I like it being like that. We started incredible and it was the game we expected.
"Tottenham are an incredible team but we are there and we are still here with 86 points after 100 last season, it is one of the most remarkable things I have had as a manager.
"Especially after 100 points, with the best Liverpool ever, one of the best sides I ever played (against) and every three days being there, being there, being there - it is remarkable.
"I want to win it, but I will not judge if not.
Tottenham is going to finish top four with the games they have, three at home, so they didn't have the pressure we had, so what we have done is massive."
