Guaranteed Watt Saver Systems Teams with Houston Homebuilder to Construct Most Efficient, Healthy Homes on Market.

HOUSTON -- Guaranteed Watt Saver Systems Inc., an engineering and consulting firm, is supporting W.E. Gilbert Co., a Houston custom homebuilder, in constructing some of the first homes built to the new Green Building Program guidelines of the Greater Houston Builders Association.

Unveiled to the building community this week, the Green Building Program is a new GHBA initiative designed to create durable, healthy and energy efficient homes through the use of advanced design and construction practices and renewable, recycled or reclaimed building materials.

As a leader in the energy-auditing services industry, Guaranteed Watt Saver Systems Inc. is uniquely positioned to help builders construct homes to the new Green Building guidelines.

"The Green Building Program guidelines expand on the stringent building practices incorporated in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star Program, which has honored GWSSI with its Partner of the Year Award for a record three times," said Samantha Pearson, GWSSI Regional Market Manager. "We have been working closely with the GHBA to ensure our plans department and certified inspectors are knowledgeable and ready to give advice to builders seeking the 'Green Building' seal of approval."

Jeff Sipes, president of W.E. Gilbert Co., said homeowners -- particularly those in hot, humid regions such as Greater Houston, will enjoy the increased durability, energy efficiency and indoor air quality inherent in homes built to the GHBA's Green Building guidelines.

"There is a pent-up demand among educated consumers who understand the value and quality of high-performance homes built to the GHBA Green Building guidelines," Sipes said. "GWSSI has the people and infrastructure in place to support us as we implement the new guidelines. They will help us throughout the design/build process with advice on construction details as well as with orientation of our supervisors to the requirements of Energy Star and the GHBA Green Building requirements."

"GWSSI provides our third-party verification for Energy Star standards, so it is a natural extension of their current service to support us in Green Building," says Sipes.

Aspen Systems Corporation working with the U.S. Department of Energy's Building America program has provided assistance to the GHBA in developing their new green building initiative. Mike Myers, with Aspen Systems, says, "Green Building provides direct benefits to a family from reduced utility costs to improved durability and creating a healthier living environment. The long term benefit of builders choosing to build "green" also means that manufacturers and distributors will begin to provide green building products affordably to local builders."

The Greater Houston Builders Association also had praise for the partnership between GWSSI and W.E. Gilbert Co.

"The GHBA applauds the initiative taken by Guaranteed Watt Saver Systems and W.E. Gilbert Co. in applying the Green Building guidelines in their projects," said Toy Wood, CEO of the GHBA. "We look forward to formally welcoming W.E. Gilbert into the program in the near future, and expect that other builders will seek the expertise of Guaranteed Watt Saver Systems or other energy-system providers in ensuring their homes meet the proposed guidelines."
