Gross product by industry, 1983.
Prices as measured by the GNP implicit price deflator increased by 4.2 percent in 1983, following an increase of 6.0 percent in 1982. There were substantial decelerations in the increases in construction, manufacturing, and retail trade. In contrast, the deflator for agriculture increased moderately following a decrease.
The industry estimates for 1983 as well as those for 1981-82 will be revised as part of the annual revision of the national income and product accounts. The revised estimates will appear in the July 1984 SURVEY OF CURRENT BUSINESS in tables 6.1 (current dollars), 6.2 (constant dollars), and 7.22 (implicit price deflators).
