Grin on charity trek!

It's nearly time to Grin and Bear It again.

The event, on Sunday, October 8, offers sponsored walkers and runners different length routes to raise cash for Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team.

The starting point is usually from Langsett Barn, just off the A616.

Grin and Bear it features a medium route of about 15 miles and one of 25 miles for stronger walkers.

Runners are catered for with a 15-mile route.

All the routes must be completed in eight hours.

The terrain for the challenge is varied and takes in not only footpaths and bridleways but also covers exposed moorland in the Dark Peak area.

There will be regular checkpoints and feed stations and a hot meal will be provided for each entrant at the finish.

Wayne Thackray, the rescue team's communications officer, said: "Last year 200 people took part. The event helped the team raise more than pounds 2,000 towards our running costs and new equipment."
