Greyhounds: Swaffham could be back soon.

SWAFFHAM may reopen within "a couple of weeks" according to owner Maurice Kirby, who has been acting as a go-between in negotiations over the future of the track.

Previously run by Tom Smith on a sub-lease from stock car promoter Vince Moody, Smith closed the track in July when his long-standing request for security of tenure failed to reach satisfactory agreement.

Kirby said yesterday: "We hope to have a new track operator in place imminently."

However, he stated he was not yet in a position to say who this is likely to be.
