Greyhounds: Impressive times in Scholes at Stud first round in Dundalk.

Byline: Michael Fortune

TIME after time unraced stakes produce future stars, and when Dundalk hosted the opening round of the Droopys Scholes at Stud Unraced Puppy 410 on Friday, there were a number of performances of real note, writes Michael Fortune.

Fastest return of the night came from the Owen McKenna-trained Knockeevan Can, who led from the start to beat Pipe Merchant by two-and-a-half lengths in a fast 21.84sec.

Coolavanny Beck, who had qualified in 21.74sec, made a successful debut in heat two, leading before the turn. The Frazer Blacktrained son of Knockeevan Star went on to score by six lengths from Mustang Must Go in 21.91sec.

Seamus Graham was also on the mark with the bred-in-the-purple Rough Event. The son of Premier County and dual Oaks winner Marinas Tina led early to beat Droopys Cuddy by two-and-a-half lengths in 21.93sec.

Skilful Telstar, Glenwood Tom and Bear Rebel won the remaining heats and, remarkably, all clocked 22.08sec.
