Greenbacks draw a blank; EVO-STIK NORTH.

Carlton Town..................2 Bedworth United..........0 BEDWORTH'S first match in Evo-Stik Northern League is one they would rather forget as a goal each side of the break saw them head back from Nottinghamshire empty-handed.

Carlton opened the scoring on 29 minutes when a shot from Alex Troke was only parried by Andy Kemp in the Greenbacks goals and Robert Darkin was on hand to tuck home the rebound.

Any hopes Ady Fuller's side had to hit back after the break were dashed when the home side doubled their lead two minutes into the half. A long ball forward was not gathered by the Bedworth keeper and Julian Topliss scored into the empty net.

As the half progressed, the visitors looked for a way back into the game, with David Blenkinsopp forcing a good save from Jordan Fell before substitute Mitchell Thompson crashed a shot against the crossbar.

But the closest the Greenbacks came to scoring was a late Blenkinsopp penalty, saved by the Carlton keeper.
