Green award for uni.

A NORTH East university's flagship development has won a national award for being green.

Northumbria University's new City Campus East, in Newbridge Street, Newcastle, has been named Low Carbon New Build Project of the Year.

Faber Maunsell, who were the building services engineers for the project, received the award together with Northumbria's director of estates, Trevor Thurlow from record-breaking yachtswoman Dame Ellen MacArthur.

The Low Carbon Performance Awards were launched this year by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers in association with E.ON to recognise and celebrate proven achievements in delivering carbon savings in buildings.
