Green Savings.

THOUSANDS of pounds are being saved by North East firms by going green.

Resource efficiency expert Envirowise says companies in the region which have taken on free advice offered by them are saving an average of pounds 5,000 a year, working out at pounds 163m for the UK.

In just twelve months, the programme also helped firms save 17 million litres of water through efficiency measures as well as a total of almost 85,000 tonnes of raw materials.

Guy Bashford, Envirowise Regional Manager for the North East, said: "Our latest impact assessment report sends out a powerful message to the region's businesses - that making good use of the free help and advice that is available through programmes such as Envirowise can save you money."
