Greek construction firm wins GCC deals worth $184m.

A unit of Athens-based GEK TERNA said on Friday it has won new projects in Qatar and Bahrain worth a total of 138m euros ($184m).

TERNA SA, a subsidiary of the Greek conglomerate, said in a statement that it has added two projects to its portfolio for work being completed in the Gulf states.

It said it was building a multi-storey car park in Doha for Qatar Foundation in a deal worth $152m.

The two-level underground car park with a total area of 100,000m 2 , would have a Metro station built of top of it, the company said.

The project is slated for completion in September 2013, it added.

The second Gulf project is a $32m 10-storey car park with the capacity for 1,400 vehicles.

The project also includes the design of dining areas on the top floor, TERNA SA said.

The owner of the project, which will be completed in October 2013, is Bahrain Financial Harbour Holding Company.

TERNA SA said the projects were part of a growing backlog of contracts won in the Middle East region, which now totalled $440m.

The overall backlog of parent company GEK TERNA Group's projects amounts to $2.65bn, the statement added.
