Great show for launch; REVIEW.

West End Story THE OLD JOINT STOCK MUSICAL GROUP, OLD JOINT STOCK THIS new musical theatre group launched itself with a more than competent concert of show songs.

Musical director Karl Steele brought together some names from West Midlands' amateur companies for the launch of what is hoped will be a community and fundraising group - proceeds went to Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Pick of the bunch was Karen Cockitt who showed nice comic touches in The Girl in 14g, a song written for Kristin Chenoweth, and real quality with When I Look At You from The Scarlet Pimpernel and In His Eyes from Jekyll & Hyde, a duet with the equally impressive Kate Rock.

The duo, along with Helen Norgrove, also produced an excellent I Wish I May from The Witches of Eastwick.

Richard Haines, Roger Shepherd and Steele himself kept the flag flying for the men.
