Great Plains Dynamics.

This graphical accounting and business management software is designed as a local area network-ready system that can manage large and complex sets of data easily. Great Plains Dynamics offers a wide range of capabilities, including:

* General Ledger accounting numbers (expandable from 20 to 45 alphanumeric digits) and five user-definable segments;

* multi-currency capabilities;

* statistical or unit account capabilities;

* a flexible WYSIWYG financial report generator; and

* modifiable reports and screens.

The software is designed to manage large and complex sets of data easily. It uses sophisticated record relationships for entering and updating large groups of records such as customers, vendors and inventory items. It also provides an on-screen audit trail that allows customers to zoom back and view the information that supports the values in the displayed fields.

The underlying foundation of this product family is a graphical, cross-platform development system called Dexterity, designed for developing large transaction-oriented applications using object-oriented programming techniques. The product family will support Microsoft Windows NT and Windows for Workgroups operating environments, as well as Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh environments.

The configuration of the software into multiple task-oriented modules allows small businesses to have access to the power of a complete business management system with the functionality provided in subsets of modules without paying for unnecessary complexity.

Prices vary according to the modules purchased. A typical solution for a small business might include Dynamics' core General Ledger, System Manager with Report Writer, Receivables Management and Payables Management modules. The cost of this system would be $3,000.

Pre-released in November 1992, Great Plains Dynamics will be generally available to customers in the first quarter of 1993.
