Graeter's tests home deliver with popular pizza chain.

Graeter's Ice Cream and Tony Boombozz Pizzerias have joined together in a distribution test that will see the highly popular pizza restaurants offer the ice cream along with home deliveries of its pizzas in Louisville, KY. Graeter's, headquartered in Cincinnati, has proven to be a popular brand in Louisville, with eight locations established there in recent years.

Tony Boombozz was launched in Louisville eight years ago, positioned by founder Tony Palombino as a gourmet pizza alternative to the available fast food type pizzas being offered for home delivery. His strategy proved to be successful. Palombino opened a second pizza place specializing in deliveries and then a full-service restaurant. He projects that he will have 180 franchise locations opened over the next four years. Both the take-out/delivery concept and the sit-down concept will be franchised.

The test, which began at the start of the year and expanded in February, has Tony Boombozz offering six flavors of Graeter's 7.1-ounce Big Scoop ice cream cartons with the company's highly popular pizzas, reported to be the top local delivery pizza in the Louisville market.
