Govt to establish gas based industrial estate for Karak.

PESHAWAR, April 16, 2011 (Balochistan Times): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Industries, Ahmad Hussein Shah has said that President Asif Ali Zardari has announced the establishment of natural gas based industrial estate in Karak. Answering questions of the legislators during question hour of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Friday, he said that maximum number of natural gas consuming units would be established in the estate. He said that a team of Sarhad Development Authority (SDA) had already visited the district for preparation of the feasibility report in this regard. He said that in next phase the team will also contact elected public representatives from the district for consultations. He said that federal government has abolished the conditionality of the issuance no objection certificate (NOC) for the establishment of industries. However, he said the establishment units relating to printing of currency notes, explosives, arms, ammunition and alcohol are required the obtainment of prior NOC from federal government. To a question of the Munawar Khan of PML-N regarding issuance of NOC for sugar factory, he said that matter is a federal subject and we only allot plot for it. However, he said there is no need for obtainment of NOC from the federal government. He said that due to the situation of the province, no new industrial units have been established in the province under the Prime Ministers Relief Package for the province. But, added that the existing industries had improved.
