Govt releases Zakat grant for destitutes.

LAHORE -- Provincial Minister for Zakat and Ushr Malik Nadeem Kamran has said a six-month installment of Rs 591,012,000 has been released under the head of subsistence allowance for 100,000 destitute persons through mobile banking and they can collect their amount from their nearest easy-paisa shop.

He said this while presiding over a meeting regarding distribution of subsistence allowance among deserving people, here at his office on Wednesday. Secretary Zakat and Usher Habib-ur-Rehman Gillani, Administrator Zakat Mohammad Yousaf Butt and concerned officers were present on the occasion.

The Minister said that Punjab government is providing funds to the deserving persons in a transparent manner while their self-respect is also being ensured.

Malik Nadeem Kamran said that deserving persons can contact District Zakat Officer, helpline or focal person at the headquarters office in case of any problem in receiving subsistence allowance.

The Minister directed Administrator Zakat to issue a circular to District Officers Zakat to contact their concerned Chambers of Commerce and affluent people of their districts and provide them information in detail about receipt and distribution system of Zakat and motivate them towards voluntary payment of Zakat.
