Govt not to burden people in forthcoming budget: Hashim.

Punjab Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakhat has said that the provincial government will not further burden the poor segment of society in forthcoming fiscal budget, but will tax the taxable and law violators while property tax will be evaluated on the basis of the property valuation.

Chairing the final meeting of the resources mobilization committee here on Tuesday, Hashim Jawan Bakht said that the government will not support any tax which will affect the already affected people while formula of equal taxation rate on poor and rich will not be accepted. The meeting was attended by the provincial ministers for Excise and Taxation Hafiz Mumtaz Ahmed, Board of Revenue Malik Muhmmad Anwar, Irrigation Mohsin Laghari and secretaries of concerned departments.

The meeting discussed the various proposals of the resource mobilizations. The ministers of concern departments and secretaries put up their proposals including adopting the KP model for revenue generation from health sector, excise department proposed surveying the properties on modern lines besides changing the rules and regulations to bring everyone in tax net, irrigation suggested revisiting the Abyana policy and police department proposes increased in traffic challans rates along with license fee.

The Provincial Minister for Finance said that relief would be given to the small farmers and traders. However, test fee would be imposed in the hospitals to the patient who afford it.

The government will provide incentives to entertainment and IT industries to promote the art and culture and digitalization.

He said traffic challan fee will be increased to discourage the violations, while facilities would be created to the license holders and law abiders.
