Govt asked to annul Musharraf-US drone attack agreement.

ISLAMABAD, March 17, 2010 (Balochistan Times ): Pakistan Muslim League parliamentary leader Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat Wednesday asked the government to nullify the agreement reportedly signed between the United States and former President Pervez Musharraf, allowing the latter to launch drone attacks in Pakistans territory. The House resumed debate on adjournment motion regarding bomb blast in Special Investigation Agency building Lahore. Though I disagree that Musharraf had signed any such agreement with United States but if there is any, the democratic government should have nullified it, he said. He said both Houses of the Parliament have also adopted a unanimous resolution condemning the US drone attacks on Pakistans soil and added that the government is bound to implement the resolution in true spirit. Faisal Saleh Hayat said under the February 18 mandate given by the people of Pakistan, the government is supposed to implement Charter of Democracy and criticized the role of PML-N as major opposition party. He said during the last one year, 1217 Pakistanis have lost their lives and during the first seventy days of the current year, 330 people have been killed in terrorist attacks in different parts of the country. He said both Prime Minister and President should pay a visit to the areas where our army personnel are fighting against the militants, what he said not only would boost the morale of security forces but also increase confidence of the common man in ongoing operation. PML member said the PML-N should lead a procession to the US embassy and sit-in until the US administration releases Dr Afia, as he said the opposition is bound to play its role as the government so far could not achieve any substantive progress in this regard. He also assured of his support on behalf of his party on this matter. Political Advisor to Prime Minister Nawabzada Ghazanfar said both the extremism and terrorism are the legacies of Pervez Musharraf who, through his policies, endangered the national security for nine years and all this cannot be rectified within two years. At the moment we are crawling. The democracy would stand up. The system would take roots, said the advisor, adding that Musharraf had signed an agreement with Mullah Umar assuring them that no action would be taken against militants, who he said, in reciprocation had guaranteed no more attempt would be made on life of Musharraf.
