Government of Andhra Pradesh to allot land to COWE in Guntur District to set up Food Park, to facilitate creation of women enterprises in the state: A.P. Minister for Major Industries.
Speaking immediately after the inauguration he said every since Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy came to power, Andhra Pradesh has been emerging as pioneer in offering best incentives and facilities for the growth
of industrial sector, with business friendly policies and pro-active approach. Though women constitute half of the population and playing critical role in the development of the society, they remain isolated in the industrial sector. At present only five percent of enterprises are managed by women in Andhra Pradesh. The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Investment Promotion Policy (2010-2015), formulated two and half months ago, has identified the need to improve the contribution of women entrepreneurs he said.
Adding further he stated that, enterprises started by women entrepreneurs as a sole property concern/partnership/private limited companies or cooperatives which has 100% women participation in the enterprise will be eligible for the benefits under the policy, he informed.
To facilitate creation of women enterprises in the state, certain initiatives have been announced such as 5% additional investment subsidy limited to Rs 5 lakh (totaling to 20%). Another 5% additional subsidy is offered for SC/ST Women(Totaling to 40%). 10% land is reserved in the industrial estates/parks developed by APIIC for women entrepreneurs. Encourage set up of exclusive industrial estates for women entrepreneurs. Organise special Entrepreneurship Development Programmes/Skill Development programmes exclusively for women and Constitution of Special awards to Women Entrepreneurs, he informed and urged COWE to encourage women entrepreneurs to make us of these facilities and come up in a big way to start new industries.
He also told that Government has already issued directions to APIIC to promote Special Industrial Estates for Women Entrepreneurs, besides reserving 10 per cent of land in their Industrial Estates/Parks.
Responding to the request made by Ms. Uma Gurkha, President of COWE in her welcome address for allotting suitable land to set up an exclusive Food Park, Kanna Lakshminaraya invited them to go to Guntur to set up the same. And added that APIIC has already identified 100acres land and acquired the same.
Earlier welcoming the gathering Ms. Uma Gurkha informed the ever since COWE was set up in 2004, it has been working towards empowering them. The 2010 edition of COWE Trade Carnival is three in one event she said. She added that 167 stalls are set up out of which 120 are set up exclusively by women entrepreneurs and 20 are entrepreneur pavilion and 17 stalls are set up by general public. Exclusive stall arrangements are made for Self Help Groups KVIC, NASARD, Hand looms, and Handy Crafts. And informed that the 30 acre Automotive Park mooted by them has finally taken off, with five to six companies beginning to work on their units. We have sought Rs 8 crore from Union Ministry of Small and Micro Enterprises for an assistance for the development of the park. We have applied for this grand under the Integrated Infrastructure Development(IID) scheme to develop the Engineering Park at Toopran. And i am glad to inform you that the Department has given an In-Principle sanction to support this project.
Some of the milestones cross in the last two years she said include earning a member seat for COWE on the Board of Department of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise(MSME), Ministry of MSME, Government of India. We have also completed the sale of Agreement with all the women entrepreneur allotees of these individual plots in COWE's Industrial and Engineering Estate.
Eight of our members participated and showcased their products in Saites International Exhibition at Johannesburg, Sourth Africa. Two members participated in Intergift fair in Madrid in Spain. These two events thanks to the support of NSIC gave good exposure and goopd opportunity to grow business internationally and build contacts informed Uma.
COWE has expanded to Delhi and opened its Chapter there. COWE has entered a MoU with University of East London for an E-Platform for women to buy and showcase products on the net
The three day COWE Trade Carnival has a Pavillion exclusively to offer project ideas to prospective women entrepreneurs and gives an exposure to various franchisee ideas and opportunities and collaborations. The guidance is offered by ISB, ISB, APITCO, COCONUT BOARD, NABARD, APSFC, A Packaging Institute,
Society for Energy, Home Science College, KVIC, Franchisee India, IT Dept., MSME, NSIC, Guidance will also be provided on various aspects of entrepreneurship that includes: Environment and Development, Science and Technology, Financial support schemes for entrepreneurs, job opportunities, industry and trade requirements, working from home opportunities, organizations for growth opportunities etc and others.
NSIC, MSME, APITCO, IT&C Dept are presenting ideas on projects and subsidies for women. Indian School of Business is bringing awareness on 10000 certificates for growth of entrepreneurs
The Carnival also has an exclusive Pavilion for banks. SBI, SBH, SIDBI where they can interact with prospective entrepreneurs, highlighting their schemes for the benefit of micro and small enterprises.
The three day 4th edition of the fair will conclude on Monday.
