Got the gander; out ANDABOUT.

MID Wales MP Roger Williams dug deep to show his emphathy with Welsh poultry farmers.

He paid PS100 to buy the top-priced bird at McCartney's annual auction of Christmas poultry in Brecon.

He went home with a goose produced by Ashley and Frances Martin, Hendy Farm, Abergavenny.

Mr Williams, MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, said: "I received a bottle of scotch for buying the highest priced bird. It cooked very well and was a great joy for my family on Christmas Day."

Proceeds from the sale were donated to Wales Air Ambulance.
