Gossip or Gospel?

When even the optimists in Dubai are hit by the credit crunch it's time to think about selling the prized family heirlooms. But WEST HAM are perhaps going a bit too far as they get ready to offload CRAIG BELLAMY to BLACKBURN, MATTHEW UPSON to ARSENAL, ROBERT GREEN to MAN CITY, SCOTT PARKER to SUNDERLAND and MARK NOBLE to NEWCASTLE. I hope Gianfranco Zola realises that a football team is actually made up of 11 players. Not that Sam Allardyce will care as the Bellamy move will be funded by ROQUE SANTA CRUZ going to moneybags City, a side who think the credit crunch is some sort of breakfast cereal, for a whopping $50 million. With the leftover cash Big Sam will swoop for Bolton's KEVIN NOLAN. Meanwhile all is not well at another of Allardyce's former clubs, with NEWCASTLE'S only decent player looking determined to get away from the north east. SHAY GIVEN has long been the only thing standing between the Toon and relegation so it's no surprise Joe Kinnear wants to keep him. But the keeper is set to get 2009 off to a great start for Sunderland fans by making a surprise move to ARSENAL for $15 million. HARRY REDKNAPP is mighty keen to get JERMAIN DEFOE back to White Hart Lane. But such is the tiny striker's popularity that they face a tug-of-war over the Portsmouth man. ASTON VILLA and, of course, MAN CITY (who seem to be linked with everyone at the moment) are watching developments. Tottenham may well have to part with $40 million to get their man - good business for Pompey though who didn't pay Spurs half of that for the very same player.
