Google takes 102,000 s/f in 1440 Broadway deal.

GVA Williams represented Google, Inc., the world's premier web search engine in its negotiations for additional space at 1440 Broadway. Google will surf into the 18th and 19th floors of the building, boosting the company's total occupancy to 102,000 square feet.

GVA Williams Senior Executive Managing Director Robert Tunis handled the transaction, enabling Google to acquire two additional floors by exercising options in his previously negotiated sublease with Primemedia. The search engine now occupies four contiguous floors in the 725,000-square-foot building, owned by Max Capital Management Corp.

Google acquired the 19th floor of the building, adding an additional 25,804 square feet of space to its operations. It also subleased the 29,872-square-foot 18th floor. CB Richard Ellis' Michael Laginestra and Michael Geoghegan represented Primemedia.

"GVA Williams was pleased to represent Google over the past eighteen months in two previous transactions in the building--a 23,136-square-foot sublease for the 21st floor and an option to acquire the 20th floor, also totaling 23,136 square feet," said Robert Tunis, GVA Williams Senior Executive Managing Director.

"Securing this additional space in their current building will enable Google to continue to expand their platform as a dynamic Internet leader."

Other tenants in the 25-story building include Liz Claiborne, WOR Broadcasting Corp., Macy's.com, Mizuho Capital Markets, Global Investment Group and Bloomingdales.
