Goodwin: It's as if Kirk has never been away.

Saints boss Jim Goodwin says Kirk Broadfoot has been a revelation since rejoining the Buddies earlier this month.

The manager has praised the 35-year-old's attitude at training and says there is no question that the defender will feature in the matchday squad at Ross County on Saturday.

"He has fitted into the group brilliantly,"said the St Mirren gaffer.

"His character is exactly what we need. He is professional, outspoken, communicator and a leader out on the training pitch. It's as if he hasn't been away.

"He is very happy to be back and we are delighted to have him."

Broadfoot signed for the Paisley outfit eight days ago, a day after having his contract cancelled at Scottish Premiership rivals Kilmarnock. Goodwin added:"Kirk will go straight into the squad.

"Jack Baird has gone to Morton and Kirk will replace him in the squad. It's as simple as that."
