Goodman is Sam's exec vp.
BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc.'s Sam's Club division has 2tapped the fast-food industry to recruit Mark Goodman as executive vice president of marketing and membership.
The 37-year-old Goodman moves to the retailer from McDonald's Corp., which he joined in 1999 and where he held various posts, including vice president of strategy and operations. At Sam's he will oversee strategy development, marketing, enhancement of the membership experience and samsclub.com. In addition, Goodman will be charged with raising awareness of the premium benefits available to the warehouse club operator's members, including Sam's Club Plus membership, the chain's Discover card offering and travel services.
"Goodman's leadership background, ideas and enthusiasm will help Sam's Club as we go forward with new ways to better serve our members," notes president and chief executive officer Doug McMillon. "He brings an understanding of the consumer that will absolutely be a key factor in improving our member experience."
