Goodbye Port Charles.
New news shows are becoming the rage in Little Rock. With the ABC network's cancellation of midday soap opera Port Charles as of Friday, KATV-TV, Channel 7 executives see an opening.
Starting Oct. 6, a new half-hour news show will run at 11:30 a.m. Helming the newly dubbed MidDay Arkansas, will be Arkansas natives Julia Grayson and Jason Harper and meteorologist Barry Brandt.
They'll come in a half-hour ahead of KARK-TV, Channel 4's similarly named Arkansas Mid-Day and KTHV-TV, Channel 11's Arkansas Today.
KATV will of course feature news, weather, special segments and a game called "Spin to Win."
"This is not going to be your ordinary run of the mill noon show," said news director Randy Dixon said. "It's going to be fun, informative and most of all entertaining ... we're giving viewers a chance to get caught up on the news, have some fun and get on with the rest of the day."
