Golf Clinic.

WHILE golf may be a non-contact sport there is still a risk of injury if you do not warm up properly.

Try to arrive at the course in plenty of time and spend five minutes doing some basic stretches to loosen up your muscles.

Use the five stretches below, making three stretches on each side lasting around 10 seconds: ? Neck rolls: Standing upright, make slow clockwise rotations of your neck.

Shoulder stretch: Stand upright and hold the club out in front of your chest with your hands at either end of the club. Lift the club above your head keeping your arms straight. Place your arms straight behind your back and repeat drill, lifting your arms above your head.

Torso rotations: Standing in your golf posture, cross your arms across your chest and make the in-swing body movements. Your back should rotate towards the target on the backswing and your chest should face the target on the follow through.

Hamstring stretch: Standing upright, straighten your legs and bend forwards towards the ground, keeping your legs straight. You may not touch the ground at first but with practice you will improve quickly.

Quads stretch: Stand upright and bend your right leg up backwards and grasp just below your ankle, holding the stretch for 10 seconds and repeat on your left side.

By using these five simple but effective stretches you will reduce the chance of injury, improve your range of movement and increase your clubhead speed.
