Golf: Mat finish so smooth.

MATHEW GOGGIN finished with a birdie blitz to sneak a one-stroke lead in the Australian PGA Championship third round.

The Aussie (right) birdied three of the last four for a three-under 69 and 12 under total.

But compatriots Geoff Ogilvy (67) and Rod Pampling (68) are breathing down his neck in Queensland. Ogilvy holed a fine 50-foot birdie putt on 18.

Jarrod Lyle, who led for much of yesterday, is two off the pace alongside Peter O'Malley (67) after bogeying three of his final six for a 71.

Goggin said: "It was nice to finish the way I did after a couple of three putts earlier in the day."
