Golf: Karlsson steady; Sky Sports 3 from 2pm.

Byline: Steve Palmer

ROBERT KARLSSON moved a step closer to a first European Order of Merit title with a steady second-round 67 in the Portugal Masters yesterday, writes Steve Palmer.

The Swedish beanpole, 9-1 ante-post favourite at Oceanico Victoria GC, has moved into a tie for fifth place at the halfway stage and is in position to stretch his lead at the top of the moneylist standings.

With Welsh maiden Stuart Manley topping the leaderboard, three shots clear of Karlsson, the OOM champion-elect will fancy his chances of claiming the first prize.

But Lee Westwood is lurking dangerously three shots further back.
