Golf: Humbled star in cup hunger.

Byline: PHIL CASEY

CURTIS STRANGE believes it is good for his team that Tiger Woods felt he had let his team-mates down after two defeats on the first day.

``Tiger played well this morning, he let it slip a bit this afternoon,'' said Strange. ``I heard he missed two short putts in a row and you cannot slip up in these matches.

``He does not feel real good right now and that's good. He is disappointed and that's good. He probably feels as though he has let the team down a bit, which is good. It makes you come back the next day a little hungrier.''

Asked if Woods was a certainty to play in all five series of matches, Strange added: ``It's not engraved in stone he is going to play all five matches, but when you have a player on your team the calibre of Tiger Woods, or Phil Mickelson, whatever their record, I'm not sitting them down.

``You go with your horses. If you get beat, you get beat, but you go with your horses.''
