Two wonderful picturebook titles are recommended picks for elementary libraries. Dan Yaccarino's Mother Goose (037582-8494, $14.95) brings Yaccarino's original style to the Motehr Goose favorites, using new urban approaches to bring Mother Goose to modern times, as in a piper's son who's really a hip jazz player. Janet Stevens and Susan Stevens Crummel's My Big Dog (0375832971, $12.95) tells of a special cat who finds his home invaded by a big dog. Will Merl be forced out of her own comfortable house? The zany drawings and unusual story line make for a particularly memorable tale.
