Godolphin Golden Mile briefing: Dettori puts faith in China.

Byline: Bill Barber

Group 2 (3yo+) (1m)

Notable runners

Conflict and Festival Of Light are the last two winners of this race, which is raised to Group 2 status for the first time this year.

Frankie Dettori has chosen to ride China Visit from Godolphin's team. Of the American hopes, Peeping Tom has won in Grade 1 company.

Quotes

Antonio Avila, trainer of Blade Prospector

"If the horse runs his race, he's going to be tough. He's a nice horse."

Simon Crisford, racing manager of Godolphin, owner of China Visit, Conspirator, Curule, Ennoblement and Festival Of Light

"China Visit has been freshened up since his latest start at Nad Al Sheba and we are hoping we can get him back to his best.

"Festival Of Light's recent work has been encouraging and we are hoping that the race is coming just at the right time for him."

Nick Robb, trainer of Conflict

"I don't think the race is as strong as it was for the last two runnings and I think Peeping Tom is the main danger. I will be disappointed if mine doesn't make the first four."

Nicholas de Croutte, trainer of Valentino and Headhunter

"I think Valentino is ten to 20 lengths better than Headhunter and if he repeats what he did on the dirt first time out, he will prove hard to beat."

Erwan Charpy, trainer of Jila and Pacino

"Pacino is a solid horse. He beat a lot of good horses at Jebel Ali, so he won't be too far away."

Pat Reynolds, trainer of Peeping Tom

"The mile is not beyond his scope and we figured we would take a crack at it."

Allan Smith, trainer of Skoozi

"He is a much better horse than when beaten in this race last year. He beat China Visit in the Maktoum Challenge and Conflict in another race earlier. I'm expecting a big run."
