Visual Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:VNWK), a leading provider of performance management solutions designed to drive performance and reliability into communication networks and services, announced today that Susquehanna International Group, LLP (SIG), a global trading and technology company headquartered in Bala Cynwyd, Pa., has deployed the Visual UpTime(R) Wide Area Network performance management solution to manage the mission-critical network that supports its worldwide trading operations.

In addition to supporting the company's internal corporate network and remote customer and vendor connections, Visual Networks'(R) Visual UpTime is used by SIG to monitor its frame relay and ATM circuits and links to the leading stock exchanges, including the NASDAQ, the New York Stock Exchange and the American Stock Exchange, as well as electronic communications-based exchanges, such as Instinet and Island.

"In today's increasingly global, virtual and around-the-clock trading environment, it is essential that we be able to monitor and troubleshoot potential network performance issues before they affect critical operations," said Hylton Socher, Chief Information Officer of Susquehanna International Group. "That is why we have deployed Visual UpTime across our entire wide area network - from remote international sites in Amsterdam and Dublin to remote domestic locations in New York, Chicago and San Francisco - all of which rely on our primary hub site to access critical market data."

Widely acknowledged as the industry's leading WAN service management solution and used by more than 2,500 companies, Visual UpTime integrates expert monitoring capabilities with access equipment to fully automate the collection, interpretation, and presentation of service level data.

A series of intuitive applications provide remote real-time troubleshooting, performance monitoring, service level validation, and performance reporting for frame relay, ATM, Internet and private line connections--or a combination of these technologies.

The only performance management solution with management capabilities for mixed ATM and frame relay environments, Visual UpTime provides in-depth traffic capture and protocol analysis across the entire wide area network.

"Visual UpTime enables us to monitor all the components of our internal network as well as critical connections and circuits to outside vendors and partners to ensure maximum network availability and performance," added Mr. Socher. "A large part of our business is providing liquidity between different markets across the country and around the world, and maximum network performance is crucial to maintaining continuous order flow and execution."

By continuously measuring second-by-second usage levels for every monitored port and PVC, Visual UpTime can automatically make informed recommendations on bandwidth allocation by specific location with its clear, detailed picture of circuit performance.

This enables network managers to create overview reports of the most and least utilized circuits across the network, then allocate bandwidth as appropriate--providing sufficient bandwidth to ensure mission-critical applications get through, without over-provisioning bandwidth and exceeding WAN budgets.

"SIG's utilization of Visual UpTime to support its ATM and frame relay network illustrates the importance of performance management in a mission-critical network and the unique value that only Visual Networks can provide by supporting ATM and hybrid frame relay and ATM networks," said Steve Hindman, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Visual Networks. "We are pleased to include them in the growing list of financial services companies that rely on Visual UpTime to maximize the performance of crucial network operations."
