Global Information Business Enables Interdepartmental Collaboration Through Supply Chain Intelligence.

Business Editors/Hi-Tech Writers

MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 12, 2002

The Global Information Business, a business unit of Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:ARW), today announced Master List, a new feature within the Connectivity Dashboard(TM) that enables companies to upload and share approved vendor lists (AVL) across engineering and purchasing departments within an organization. Customers can search parametrically on that AVL using Global Explorer(TM), a component selection application.

"Using Master List allows a company to guide new design and purchasing activity across parts they have already approved for their company," said Chris Henry, Vice President and General Manager, Global Information Business. "When company approved parts are chosen, this eliminates random part selections that never generate enough volume to get significant pricing discounts from the manufacturer or distributor."

If a customer is searching parametrically on their Master List and there isn't an appropriate part for a new design, then the customer can also find functionally similar parts or direct cross references from the entire Ubiquidata(TM) electronic components database, which contains information for more than 16 million parts. Customers always know which parts are contained on their Master List because those parts are flagged in their search results.

Additionally, companies can upload a Master List into the Projects section within the Connectivity Dashboard, the gateway into one seamless work environment, and then assign sharing capabilities with read only or edit authorization. This makes sure that the right people have access to the right information.

"Master List facilitates interdepartmental collaboration by allowing users to share information, consolidate their purchasing activity, and eliminate AVL expansion," said Henry. "Master List is fully integrated with Risk Manager, Alert, and Global Explorer. This provides incredible supply chain intelligence across a companies' AVL, creating significant efficiencies and accelerating their time to market."
