Glenwood chiefs honored for their humanity.

The American Jewish Committee, one of the oldest and most respected civil and human rights organizations in the country, honored Linda and Gary Jacob with its distinguished Human Relations Award at a dinner event on Thursday, May 12 at the Waldorf-Astoria.

Mr. and Mrs. Jacob are both highly respected professionals within the real estate industry, serving as executive vice president and senior vice president, respectively, of Glenwood, New York's premier developer, owner and manager of luxury rentals. The Jacobs were recognized by AJC for their business achievements and their dedication to philanthropy and civic causes.

Robert J. Ivanhoe, Mrs. Jacob's brother and a partner in the law firm of Greenberg Traurig, served as dinner chair and award presenter.

Mrs. Jacob has been a long-time active leader of the American Jewish Committee's women's campaign. Both she and Mr. Jacob have contributed their time, talents and resources in support of AJC.

Mr. Jacob is also a committed community service volunteer, serving on the board of the Settlement Housing Fund, as vice president of the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation and as vice chairman of the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District.

"Linda and I were deeply honored to have received such a distinguished award from the AJC," said Mr. Jacob. "We strive to make contributions to the communities in which we live and work. To have received the Human Relations Award from such a prominent organization in recognition of these efforts was a truly moving and gratifying experience."

In 2006, the American Jewish Committee will celebrate its 100th birthday. With more than 150,000 members and supporters, 33 chapters across the country and 18 international posts, it works to build human bridges of mutual respect and understanding among diverse ethnic and religious groups; support Israel's right to exist in peace and security; fight the scourge of international terrorism, anti-Semitism and all forms of hatred and extremism and defend democracy, religious freedom and human rights.
