Glasnost brings Soviet beer to United States

The Soviet Union, previously known for producing vodka, armaments and empty rhetoric, will now begin providing Soviet beer through a licensing arrangement with Eastern Credit Ltd, Inc., the Houston-based company announced.

"If you added a little more carbonation, it would be good [beer]," said Alex Genin, Soviet-born managing director, Eastern Credit.

Under the more relaxed relations between the United States and the Soviets, currently enjoyed by both nations, the new licensing agreement allows Eastern Credit Ltd., Inc. to modify the product.

"We'll do just that," Genin said, referring to Eastern's plan to revamp the brew's formula to suit American's palates.
