Glam rockers stun Dimi; YB 40 - SEMI-FINAL.

Byline: Alex Shaw

GLAMORGAN sprung a surprise as Jim Allenby powered them past YB40 holders Hampshire to reach a first Lord's final for 13 years.

Allenby made an unbeaten 74 in Glamorgan's healthy 234-4 and the Aussie all-rounder also took two wickets as one-day specialists Hampshire fell short on 203-8 to lose by 31 runs.

All of Glamorgan's batsmen reached double figures in their knock but Allenby was the key.

His unbroken fifth-wicket stand of 84 with Ben Wright, who hit 47, was crucial to the victory at Southampton as the visitors spoiled Dimi Mascerenhas' farewell party.

Captain Jimmy Adams (59) and Sean Ervine (54) both hit half centuries but the hosts were well beaten, with Michael Hogan ending the match with 4-51.

Matthew Mott will now look to sign off his tenure with a win - his contract will not be renewed - as he prepares his side for the final.

Glamorgan will face the winners of tomorrow's second semi-final between Nottinghamshire and Somerset, with the showdown at Lord's on September 21.
