Give damages individual attention.

If the plaintiff does not win the case on liability, the most compelling damages evidence and arguments will be for naught. So lawyers often spend most of their preparation and trial time on liability issues, leaving less time and energy for damages.

In a catastrophic injury case, you can benefit by using a team approach that allows one lawyer to focus solely on damages. Most courts will allow two attorneys to split the opening statement, the final argument, and even the direct examination of the plaintiff, with one addressing issues of liability and the other, damages.

Devoting one lawyer's full attention to damages can reap rich rewards.
