Give a needy child a home.

Adoption social workers will be on hand to talk to people who want to adopt at an informal open evening.

Newcastle City Council's Adoption Unit event is being held to give people a chance to find out more about adoption and what is involved in the adoption process.

Experienced staff will be on hand to talk more about who can adopt, the different stages involved in adoption and the Newcastle children who are waiting for people to come forward.

The current Newcastle Adoption Service has 62 children on the adoption register, children who are waiting for a new family to call their own. In the last year Newcastle had 30 adoption orders granted.

People who would like further information should call Newcastle Adoption Unit on (0191) 278 8200. Newcastle Adoption Service Information Evening is from 7 to 9pm this Thursday at The Marriage Rooms, Newcastle Civic Centre, Barras Bridge, Newcastle.
