Give a gift to nature.

Nature lovers are being invited to make Christmas presents for bugs, slugs and birds.

County Durham's countryside rangers are holding a day making Christmas gifts that give nature a helping hand at the Broompark picnic area near Ushaw Moor, on the outskirts of Durham City.

Make bug hotels, bird feeders, Christmas wreaths and cards, using sustainable material harvested from the countryside.

Entry to the event from 11am to 3pm on Saturday is free, but there will be a small charge for items made or bought. Call the rangers on 0191 383 4144 or for details.
